First good news - the long-awaited renovation of the former RCMP building in order to provide a home for Arrowhead is now underway. The Wakefield crew began work early in March and expects to have completed the first phase sometime this summer. At the same time the site is being prepared in anticipation of the arrival of the Olympic Village housing modules from Whistler later in the year.
On Thursday, April 8 the official ground-breaking ceremony for what is to be called the Dolphin Street Legacy Housing Project will take place, with the Minister of Housing, Rich Coleman and Mayor Darren Inkster officiating.
Second, the directors of Arrowhead have been had at work in preparation for the re-opening sometime in early Fall. New partnerships with the Sunshine Coast Community Services Society and Vancouver Coastal Health are being negotiated so as to ensure smooth operation of the entire facility.
Third, as a result of the generous response of individuals, community organizations and local governments to our Hands Up! Appeal $45,000 has been raised. We are grateful to all of you - and you know who you are!
